SB 1 an act concerning affordability
Senate Democrat Caucus priority that (1) exempts from the sales and use taxes clothing costing under $100, school supplies and appliances; (2) eliminates the additional 1% sales and use taxes imposed on meals sold by grocery stores; (3) establishes a voluntary employer payroll tax and a personal income tax credit for certain employees of an employer that elects to pay such tax; (4) increases the maximum allowable credit against the personal income tax for a person's primary residence or motor vehicle; (5) establishes a credit against the personal income tax for expenditures paid or incurred by a taxpayer for the care and support of an elderly or disabled family member; and (6) establishes a credit against the personal income tax for certain rental payments made by a taxpayer with income of $75,000 or less, for such taxpayer's primary residence in the state.
SB 2 an act supporting local commerce
Exempts commercial and industrial customers with less than $10 million in gross income from the sales and use tax and dedicates revenue generated from the additional 1% sales tax on meals to the Tourism Fund and municipalities.
SB 3 an act concerning healthcare affordability
This Senate Democrats’ priority bill would require an appropriation from the General Fund to provide health coverage for Access Health enrollees whose income falls below a specified percentage of the federal poverty level.
SB 4 an act concerning consumer privacy
Currently has no meaningful statutory language, but it is anticipated that the bill will be the main vehicle for data privacy and artificial intelligence policy changes this session.
SB 5 an act concerning online safety
Has no meaningful statutory language, but it is anticipated that the bill will be the main vehicle for expanding the technology skills of working residents.
